DD-LS241 Satellite Speakers

The LS-241 thin mount speakers are engineered to deliver the smooth, detailed response of high quality satellite speakers in a thin package for integrating into new video systems. It is not necessary to give up true old school high fidelity when putting together a stylish AV system. The LS-241 speakers combine elegant good looks with solid audio engineering.

Underneath the high gloss finish is a wooden cabinet fabricated out of MDF to give the LS-241s a strong resonant free enclosure. These cabinets are more complicated to produce than the normal plastic cabinets found in most systems today, but the cabinet is the foundation of a good speaker system and the LS-241s start off on solid footing.

The rounded sides of the cabinets reduce unwanted diffraction to help bring out natural detail of upper midrange and high frequency. The fabric grill is removable and the frame is also machined form MDF. The back of the cabinet has two built in T-nuts for handling a variety of mounting options.

The LS-241 uses dual 4.5” midrange drivers with front mounted Neo motors and a 1 inch natural silk dome tweeter. The front mounted motor on the 4.5” drivers allows more cabinet volume for acoustic tuning and to enable a thinner total cabinet depth. The voice coils are also open to cooling air in front of the cone where the in and out motions of the cone act as an air pump, driving heat off the coils. The 1” dome tweeter features a tuned back cavity and ferrofluid cooling oil in the magnetic gap.

Using dual 4.5” drivers allow the LS-241 speakers to handle the high dynamic demands of home cinema entertainment, two speakers and two voice coils share the audio demand duty by sharing the stress and lowering distortions over single driver designs. The dual drivers are mounted as close to each other and the 1” tweeter to deliver true point source imaging.

The LS-241s were designed to be true high fidelity speakers first, with the dual driver design enabling the high output needed for cinema systems. The LS-241s are compact enough to seamlessly integrate into sleek AV systems while being large enough to deliver the punch needed for grin inducing action scenes. The high quality drivers and cabinet design mean the LS-241s are equally at home in 5-6 speaker audio systems too.
