Contrary to DD's age old box building moto "Space Makes Bass" the SL712 was designed to deliver big bass from a small sealed enclosure. It uses a front mounted neodymium motor design to allow for decreased mounting depth while maintaining the high excursion ability of a standard woofer. This high output 12” sub has a mounting depth of only 4.125”, and performs best in .5 to .8 cubic foot of sealed airspace. This makes it perfect for behind or under seat applications. To give it the power handling ability needed to produce real bass, it’s outfitted with a 3” high temp voice coil, vented voice coil gap, EROM surround, and a progressive roll spider with laminated tinsel leads. Its rated power handling is 400-800 watts RMS and 1600 watts peak. It is offered with a dual 2 ohm voice coil allowing for a 1 or 4 ohm amplifier load.
